Coronavirus impact

Amazing Greys will continue operating during the stage 3 coronavirus restrictions, but to help protect the health of our volunteers and their families and to help prevent spread of the virus, we are limiting our movements to an absolute minimum. This means we cannot easily pick up new dogs from kennels/trainers/shelters or take new greyhounds to the vet, and we cannot do our usual home checks and follow up visits for families looking to adopt. In the meantime, we are here to help via email and Facebook if you need any training advice or have any other questions.

Please reach out if you get sick and cannot care for your greyhound. We have a few foster carers in Melbourne who may be able to help out. Please also let us know if you need food or anything else for your greyhound; we have limited resources in Melbourne but are happy to share what we have with those who need it.

Thank you so much for your patience in these times. Stay safe!

Life without a greyhound is possible, but meaningless!

We are a volunteer-run greyhound rescue group in Melbourne, Australia, and we love, love, love greyhounds! They are such unique, sensitive and loving souls and deserve the best life.

Amazing Greys was founded in 2011; we rescue, rehabilitate and re-home ex-racing greyhounds and greyhound x breeds. Our greyhounds come from racing kennels or shelters, or are privately surrendered into our care.

Every greyhound in our care lives in a loving foster home until we find their pawfect forever home. While we search for that home, the greyhound undergoes vet treatment for things such as de-sexing, vaccinations, teeth cleaning and, if necessary, teeth extraction, etc. Some greyhounds also have muscular injuries or broken bones and need surgery and rest before they are adopted. Our foster families are supported by canine behaviourists and R+ trainers who help with settling the greyhound into a family home.

We are 100% volunteer run and rely on donations from our members and the public to do our work. We regularly host adoption and info days where you can meet some of our greyhounds that are available for adoption, speak to our volunteers and buy merchandise and raffle tickets.
